Chocolate. Yet another food I thought I would need to give up with Keto. Back when I started eating Low Carb and then transitioned to Keto I would try to find ths darkest, still edible chocolate and endulge on a square every other week.

Keto Anywhere Chocolate SS.png

Then Lily’s Chocolate released their first stevia sweetened chocolate. I tried many and Almond Dark Chocolate grew on me. Then other brands jumped in and now all us Ketoers and Low Carbers are fortunate enough to have many options that are just as tasty as regular chocolate.

I volunteer as tribute….to taste keto friendly Chocolates!

This comparison, as the others before goes beyond just listing which chocolates you can buy. I will also cover net carbs, calories, taste, texture, price, where to buy them and more.

Anything to make it easier for you to find the best Keto friendly chocolate that is perfect for you!

Review of Better Than Good Foods - Keto Chocolate Krunch

Keto Anywhere Better_Than_Good_Chocolate_Crunch_Bar
Keto Anywhere Better_Than_Good_Chocolate_Crunch_Bar Nutrition Facts

About the company: The founder of Better Than Good Foods is a “physician and a mom” who realized “the importance of good nutrition.” When her “son was diagnosed with cancer, making sure that he ate a balanced diet” became even more of a priority than it had already been.”While going through chemotherapy, all he wanted to eat was junk food and it drove” her “CRAZY!”. To ensure he would get his treats and also much needed protein, she decided to create her own snack line.

Sweetener used: Erythritol, Monk fruit, Stevia

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: All good. All clean.

Serving Size: 1 bar which is 43gr

Calories per serving: 190 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 4gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 18gr (Total Carbs) - 5gr (Fiber) - 9gr (Sugar Alcohols) = 4gr net carbs

Servings per package: 6

My thoughts on serving size: I think you would be able to stick to half a bar and reduce the carbs a bit more that way

Visual appeal: Flat bar that’s about 3in long and 2in wide and a few milimeters high with the logo imprinted. On the under side you can see the little crunch puffs.

Texture: Nice crunch from the puffs and some creamyness from the chocolate.

My taste review: The crunch is nice but the chocolate is not very flavorful. I wish it was a bit more intense in the chocolate flavor. I did get a hint of vanilla which I did notice in the ingredients afterwards.

Further notes:

  • Gluten free

  • Nuts free

  • Soy free

Overall: There aren’t many Keto friendly crunchy chocolate options out there so if you’re craving that these will be a great fit. For me, they lacked in chocolate flavor. They were ok but compared to others I’m not as drawn to them. I love the story behind the company though and look forward to trying more of their products in the future.

Other products available: They also have protein puffs in a variety of flavors.

Where to buy: Online through their website www.betterthangoodsnacks.com and on Amazon I was only able to find the bite version.

Price: $14.99 for the Bars or 2 packs of bites on their website. $6.95 for 1 pack of bites on Amazon or $14.97 for a bag of 6 bars

Review of ChocXO - Keto Snaps

About the company: Founded in 2014 in Irvine CA by Richard Foley and Tony Canino with not just a chocolate production but also cafés in Costa Mesa and Lake Forest. They’ve since closed the cafés and have moved operations to Canada as they outgrew their California facilities.

Sweetener used: Cane sugar

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: Some will argue that organic cane sugar is better for you than artificial sweeteners like Sucralose or Maltodextrin. When it comes to blood sugar levels the impact will be similar though and they will make sthem rise.

Serving Size: 2 pieces / 28g / 1oz

Calories per serving: 180 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 3gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 6gr (Total Carbs) - 3gr (Fiber) = 3gr net carbs

Servings per package: The bag sold at Costco has 15 pieces I believe which means 7.5 servings

My thoughts on serving size: Imagine a little square of chocolate you might get served with your coffee at a restaurant. One snap is about that size. Great to get a bit of chocolate without endulging too much.

Visual appeal: The piece is made of of 4 smaller squares that are about 3/4in each and about 1 cm / ~0.5in thick, with a cocoa bean pressed it. When you break them you can see bits of coconut and almonds

Texture: Good bite with the thickness. Some crunch with the bits of nuts.

My taste review: This one is for dark chocolate lovers who enjoy a bit of bitterness. I did not get much of the coconut but did taste a hint of almond and sea salt. It has some creaminess but again, as much as a very dark chocolate would have.

Further notes:

  • Kosher

  • Gluten free

Overall: I’m not a fan of the cane sugar but beyond that I think they are a great chocolate-as-a-treat option. I love dark chocolate and enjoyed the extra texture with the nuts.

Other products available: Different flavors like Dark Chocolate Raspberry Quinoa or Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds as well as Almond Butter Cups - these are 6g net carbs though.

Where to buy: You might find these at Costco, Marshalls, TJ MAXX as well as online on their website www.chocxo.com and on Amazon

Price: $15.95 for 3 packs of 15 pieces on their website. $10.99 for 2 packs of 15 pieces on Amazon.

Review of ChocZero - Keto Bark - Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt - Almonds

About the company: Founded in late 2016 in California with 2 goals: Create an amazing sugar free chocolate and be a company that truly cares about its customers. ChocZero quickly conquered our hearts. In 2019 they started hitting retail locations in California and continued to grow their fanbase to almost 300k followers today.

Sweetener used: Monk Fruit Extract

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: Super clean. One of ChocZero’s commitments is to not use Sugar Alcohols. The other ingredients are all also so clean that you need no degree in chemistry to understand the label: dark chocolate made of unsweetened chocolate and cocoa butter, soluble corn fiber (this is fiber, not starch so all good), almonds, sea salt…

Serving Size: 1 bar which is 1oz / 28gr

Calories per serving: 120 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 2gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 15gr (Total Carbs) - 13gr (Fiber) = 2gr net carbs

Servings per package: 6

My thoughts on serving size: Depending on your own self-restraint you could easily be happy with half a bar. I usually end up eating a whole one.

Visual appeal: The bar is like a flat plaque of chocolate. The Almond pieces are clearly visible and it is embossed with ChocZero and a criss-cross pattern.

Texture: The almond flakes give it a nice crunch. The chocolate is slightly creamy.

My taste review: I really enjoyed it. I was hesitant of the Sea Salt but it ended up not being overpowering at all. It gave the chocolate more flavor. The Almond gave it texture but weren’t intense either. You definitely get the chocolate taste you seek with a bit of extra through the Sea Salt and Almonds. I find that ChocZero really hits a nice level of sweetness too. I do not like food that is too sweet anymore as with Keto I’ve lost the habit of eating sweets and appreciate the perfect balance that ChocZero achieves in their bars.

Further notes:

  • No sugar alcohols

  • Dairy free

  • Vegan

  • Gluten free

Overall: These are great! Great complement to the other great products ChocZero has. I like the size of the bark that allows for easy dividing to eat half now and half later. As mentioned in the taste review the sweeteness is perfect - escpecially for dark chocolate. Nice hint of Sea Salt. Nice texture with the Almonds. Would recommend it!

Other products available: The barks also come in Milk Chocolate and in Pecan as well as Hazelnut. Hazelnut is my current favorite. SO GOOD. Beyond that they also have squares (see below), syrups, chocolate chips and peanut butter cups.

Where to buy: Online through their website www.choczero.com and on Amazon

Price: $6.99 for a pack of 6 Bars on their website. Get 10% off at every order with code KETOANYWHERE when you order on www.choczero.com . $14.99 for 2 packs of 6 bars on Amazon.

Review of ChocZero - 50% Dark Chocolate Square

About the company: Founded in late 2016 in California with 2 goals: Create an amazing sugar free chocolate and be a company that truly cares about its customers. ChocZero quickly conquered our hearts. In 2019 they started hitting retail locations in California and continued to grow their fanbase to almost 300k followers today.

Sweetener used: Monk Fruit Extract

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: All fine

Serving Size: 1 square which is 0.4ish oz / 10gr

Calories per serving: 40 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 1gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 6gr (Total Carbs) - 5gr (Fiber) = 1gr net carbs

Servings per package: 10

My thoughts on serving size: These squares, similar to the ChocXo one I review further down are the size of a square you’d get served with your coffee. A littel treat to give you a taste of chocolate.

Visual appeal: These are about 1.5in x 1.5in and 3mm high with raised edges and ChocZero printed on

Texture: Nice smooth and creamy.

My taste review: The flavor develops and lingers also after you’re done eating. It feels creamy to be and definitely hits the chocolate spot you might want to satisfy.

Further notes:

  • Soy free

  • Dairy free

  • Vegan

  • Gluten free

Overall: Big fan of these. Whether in 50% or 70% or even in white chocolate - and I’m not usually big on white chocolate. I would recommend eating the square mindfully though to stick to the portion size. Really enjoy it. Notice the smoothness and flavor. Take small bites and enjoy.

Other products available: ChocZero has barks, syrups, chocolate chips, seasonal items and more

Where to buy: Online through their website www.choczero.com and on Amazon

Price: $4.99 for a pack of 10 squares on their website. Get 10% off at every order with code KETOANYWHERE when you order on www.choczero.com . $14.99 for 3 packs of 10 squares on Amazon.

Review of ChocoPerfection - Dark European Chocolate

Keto Anywhere Keto Krate Choco Perfection
Keto Anywhere Choco Perfection Nutrition Facts

About the company: “ChocoPerfection has been in business since 2003. The company was founded by Mary Jo Kringas. Due to a struggle with obesity since childhood, Mary Jo was finally able to lose weight on a low-carb eating program. However, when she ate "sugar free" chocolate made with maltitol, her weight loss stopped.

Mary Jo learned that Japan and Europe use FOS (also known as inulin or oligofructose) as a healthy and sweet alternative to sugar. She started eating chocolate made with this prebiotic fiber from chicory root and was finally able to lose weight and sustain her weight loss for more than 10 years.”

Sweetener used: Erythritol

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: All good. Easy to understand.

Serving Size: 1 bar / 50g

Calories per serving: 197 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 2gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 24gr (Total Carbs) - 14gr (Fiber) - 8gr (Erythritol) = 2gr net carbs

Servings per package: 1

My thoughts on serving size: The bar has 5 squares and I feel like you could be very satsified with just 1-2.

Visual appeal: Very dark in color with a Fleur de Lys print in. Nice a thick with some shine.

Texture: With the thickness you have a nice bite. As you eat it it has some creaminess but given that it is dark chocolate not as much as if it were milk chocolate.

My taste review: It’s rich and does remind me of European chocolates. The flavor develops and I did feel a slight cooling effect. Nothing extreme though and I think if you were just casually eating it rather than reviewing it you might not notice.

Further notes:

  • Gluten free

Overall: I’m impressed. I was not familiar with this brand and got to try it through the Keto Krate. I’m not sure that I would go out of my way to buy it but if I were on the go somewhere and saw it and felt like a sweet treat I would get it.

Other products available: Different flavors from Dark almond to milk, dark orange, mint or raspberry.

Where to buy: Online through their website chocoperfection.com and on Amazon

Price: $28.95 for the variety pack that has 4 full bars and 2 mini bars on both their website and on Amazon

Review of Jojo's - Goes Hawaiian

Keto Anywhere JoJos Goes Hawaiian Chocolate

About the company: Jojo’s is named after its creator who inspired her son throughout her life and through her cancer diagnose. “Dedicated to living as healthy as possible, she went to work in the kitchen perfecting a delicious, low-sugar, guilt-free chocolate snack that satisfied her sugar cravings”. Her mission lives on as her son continues to share her creations with us.

Sweetener used: Erythritol, Stevia

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: All good. Easy to understand. No chemistry degree needed.

Serving Size: 1 bar / 34g / 1.2oz

Calories per serving: 150 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 3gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 14gr (Total Carbs) - 3gr (Fiber) - 8gr (Erythritol) = 3gr net carbs

Servings per package: 7

My thoughts on serving size: If you want to keep carbs lower, half a bar will satisfy you too

Visual appeal: Dark chocolate color and on the top you can see the coconut and macadamia bits. It’s really pretty.

Texture: Nice crunch with the larger pieces of nuts as well as texture with the grated dried coconut which is complemented by creamy chocolate.

My taste review: I really enjoy how the coconut and the macadamia and some salt complement the chocolate. It’s not the most chocolate-y chocolate if that makes sense but all the ingredients work nicely together. I do get some cooling effect but somehow do not mind with these bars.

Further notes:

  • Gluten free

  • Soy free

Overall: I really like these which surprises me with the cooling. They aren’t too sweet and change things up for me from the usual ‘just’ dark chocolate. I would recommend giving these a try.

Other products available: They also have Penaut Butter Delight bars and Raspberry Bars as well as some their ‘original which comes with pistachio, almonds and cranberries.

Where to buy: Online through their website www.jojoschocolate.com , on Amazon and stores like HomeGoods where I found them.

Price: $13.99 for a pack of 7 Chocolate Bars on their website. $14.99 for the pack on Amazon. Both on the website and Amazon you can also get a variety pack.

Review of Jojo's - Raspberry Dream

Keto Anywhere JoJos Raspberry Dream Chocolate.png

About the company: Jojo’s is named after its creator who inspired her son throughout her life and through her cancer diagnose. “Dedicated to living as healthy as possible, she went to work in the kitchen perfecting a delicious, low-sugar, guilt-free chocolate snack that satisfied her sugar cravings”. Her mission lives on as her son continues to share her creations with us.

Sweetener used: Erythritol, Stevia

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: All good. Easy to understand. No chemistry degree needed.

Serving Size: 3 bites / 34g / 1.2oz

Calories per serving: 140 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 4gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 15gr (Total Carbs) - 3gr (Fiber) - 8gr (Erythritol) = 4gr net carbs

Servings per package: 3.2 - yeah, I know lol

My thoughts on serving size: One bite is very satifying so you could be fine with a smaller portion size than what they show on the packaging

Visual appeal: Dark chocolate color and on the top you can see the pistachio and dried raspberries and almonds.

Texture: Similar to ‘Goes Hawaiian’ nice crunch with the larger pieces of pistachio especially as well as bite with the dried raspberries and bits of almonds. The chocolate felt creamy.

My taste review: I mostly noticed the flavor of pistacchio and raspberries. The chocolate is not very intense which gives the other elements a place to shine. Similar to ‘Goes Hawaiian’ I do notice some cooling effect but not enough to deter me from eating it.

Further notes:

  • Gluten free

  • Soy free

Overall: I think JoJo’s is pretty unique with their fruit and nut and chocolate compositions and I would recommend giving them a tried. It’s not the most chocolate-y chocolate but worked well for me to change things up. I wish they were a bit lower in carbs though.

Other products available: They also have Penaut Butter Delight bars and Hawaiian bars (see higher up) as well as some their ‘original’ which comes with pistachio, almonds and cranberries.

Where to buy: Online through their website www.jojoschocolate.com , on Amazon and stores like HomeGoods where I found them.

Price: These also come in bars. $13.99 for a pack of 7 Chocolate Bars on their website. $14.99 for the pack on Amazon. Both on the website and Amazon you can also get a variety pack.

Review of Kiss My Keto - Dark Chocolate Toasted Hazelnuts

About the company: On the Kiss My Keto Website one of the co-founder - Alex - shares his recent history with cancer - not just a risk for himself but a close relatives diagnosis. Studies have shown that cancer can progress faster in a high carb diet which triggered him to look into low carb diets and Keto. As for his fellow co-founder Michael, he switched to Keto following hormonal challenges and hearing from his doctor that he was pre-diabetic.

As they both roamed through stores they realized the lack of low carb products and decided to change that! Today Kiss My Keto has a very wide range of products which are created by Keto-ers for Keto-ers!

Sweetener used: Erythritol, Stevia

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: As clean as it gets. You might pause at Inulin as it is not an ingredient we’re as used to but no worries, it is fine for blood sugar levels. It may cause bloating though. You can read more here.

Serving Size: 1/3 of a bar which is 1oz / 28gr

Calories per serving: 130 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 2gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 13gr (Total Carbs) - 7gr (Fiber) - 4gr (Erythritol) = 2gr net carbs

Servings per package: 3

My thoughts on serving size: I actually usually only east 2-3 squares of chocolate at a time. Accordingly for me the serving size is generous!

Visual appeal: Nice dark color. On the underside you can see the bits of toasted hazelnut.

Texture: The hazelnut give it a nice bite and texture without being too big or hard to bite. The Chocolate is creamy and very satisfying.

My taste review: It tastes great. Good rich quality chocolate. Perfect balance of Hazelnut to give it that slightly contrasting flavor. Creamy as mentioned above. This is very easy to eat :D

Further notes:

  • 10% MCT oils

  • Grain free

  • Gluten free

  • Soy free

Overall: Very positively surprised. As mentioned in the intro I was first #TeamLilys, then #TeamChocZero and now I have to admit that I’ll also be #TeamKissMyKeto. I really enjoy this chocolate. Good balance of nuts and chocolate and perfect as an after lunch or dinner snack, I am curious how it would melt to use as a spread like Nutella. I shall try it soon!

Other products available: MANY! You might realize eventually that Kiss My Keto has a product in almost every comparison I’m working through. From supplements to noodles, bars, bread, gummies, cookies and more!

Where to buy: Online through their website www.kissmyketo.com , on Amazon and stores like Health food stores, WholeFoods and more.

Price: $24.99 for a pack of 4 Chocolate Bars on their website. Get 10% off with code KETOANYWHERE. $24.99 for a 4 pack on Amazon. Both on the website and Amazon you can also get a variety pack.

Review of Lily's Sweets - Hazelnut Milk Chcolate

About the company: “It all started with a neighborhood natural foods store” is how the ‘About us’ section starts on Lily’s Sweet Website. It continues with:

“Fresh out of school, Cynthia Tice knew she needed a job and that she had a passion for helping people eat better. So in 1978, she opened Center Foods in Philadelphia. Way before the rest of us were sipping green juice, Cynthia was raising awareness of better-for-you foods.
In 2003, Cynthia hit a milestone birthday (don’t ask which one) and decided to kick sugar for good. The only problem was chocolate, she just couldn’t give it up. So in 2010, she made her own no sugar added chocolate and launched Lily’s Sweets with her longtime friend Chuck Genuardi.”

Sweetener used: Erythritol, Stevia Extract

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: You could pause at Dextrin but unlike MALTOdextrin, ‘just’ Dextrin’ is an indigestible Fiber (not a sweeteners) that is fine with Keto and will not make your blood sugar levels rise. Overall the ingredients are fine for clean / strict Keto.

Serving Size: 1/2 bar - 30g / 1.1oz

Calories per serving: 140 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 3gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 14gr (Total Carbs) - 8gr (Fiber) - 3gr (Erythritol) = 2gr net carbs

Servings per package: ~2

My thoughts on serving size: Pretty generous. I usually eat one bar of squares which would be 1/3 of a serving

Visual appeal: It looks just like regular chocolate bars with squares. From the udnerside you can see the bits of hazelnut.

Texture: Creamy and rich with bits to chew on with the hazelnut.

My taste review: I really enjoy this. The milk chocolate is flavorful and creamy. Not too sweet. The Hazelnut bits give it just the right amount of nutty flavor. I’ve tried it melted on Keto friendly bread too and it was delicious.

Further notes:

  • Gluten free

Overall: I’m a fan of Lily’s Chocolate. Dark Chocolate Almond was my go to for 2 years until I tried ChocZero. Around the same time Lily’s released Milk Chocolate Hazelnut though and I now like to go back and forth between this and the ChocZero Dark Chocolate Hazelnut bark. I love the Lily’s is available in most grocery stores nowadays although unfortunately this particular flavor is harder to find. I usually have luck at WholeFoods though who also often run a sale on Lily’s.

Other products available: Their chocolates are the Keto friendliest items. They also have coated nuts that are higher in carbs though as well as cookies.

Where to buy: In most US grocery stores as well as on their website lilys.com and on Amazon.

Price: 12 bars for $39.99 both on their website and on Amazon. In stores these tend to be priced between $3.50 and $4.25

Review of Ross Chocolate - Milk Chocolate Flavored Thins

Keto Anywhere Ross Chocolate Milk Chocolate Flavored Thins
Keto Anywhere Ross Chocolate Milk Chocolate Flavored Thins Ingredients

About the company: Ross Chocolates founder Bob, based in Scotch Creek, British Columbie, Canada, was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 1995 and was “determined to continue enjoying chocolate”. He decided to create a chocolate without added sugar

in 1998 they were ready to push things more, added flavors and in 2015 sold to a “group of chocolate lovers who moved the production facility from Scotch Creek to a larger facility in Port Coquitlam, BC.” It is now “one of North America’s leading makers of No Sugar Added chocolate.”

Sweetener used: In the version I tried: Maltodextrin, steviol glycoside

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: In the version I tried: This product is a great example of how foods designed for diabetics are not necessarily clean / strict Keto friendly. Maltodextrin is a big No No in that context as it will raise your blood sugar levels. Also, the packaging calls out on the front that these do not contain maltitol to then have maltodextrin which is actually much worse on blood sugar levels. As I finished typing this I realized that they’ve now released a stevia and erythritol sweetened version that I’ll be curious to try.

Serving Size: 5 pieces / 28g

Calories per serving: 120 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 2gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 14gr (Total Carbs) - 7gr (Fiber) - 5gr (Erythritol) = 2gr net carbs

Servings per package: 3

My thoughts on serving size: Fine. You could be satisfied with just 1-2 squares

Visual appeal: The thins are about 1in x 1in with a little diagonal line pattern and the color you’d expect of milk chocolate

Texture: Smooth and becomes creamier as you eat it and it melts in your mouth.

My taste review: Creamy, rich milk chocolate flavor which reminded me of higher end chocolate.

Further notes:

  • Gluten free

Overall: I wish it had cleaner ingredients as I believe it could be a great fit for Ketoers. As I finished writing this I realized that their website has a version of these now which has no Maltodextrin. I hope to try that soon to see if they managed to maintain the flavor!

Other products available: Other flavors include Mint, Dark and more

Where to buy: Online through their website www.rosschocolates.shop or on Amazon.

Price: 3 packs for $14.99 on both their website and on Amazon

Review of Shrewd Foods - Keto Dippers - Milk Chocolate

About the company: I was not able to find details about Shrewd Foods as a company. When they were founded and what the initial spark was. They are a US based company though.

Sweetener used: Erythritol

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: Inulin might make your feel bloated

Serving Size: 34g / ~1.2oz - I would guess about 15 puffs?

Calories per serving: 150 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 3gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 14gr (Total Carbs) - 5gr (Fiber) - 6gr (Sugar Alcohols) = 3gr net carbs

Servings per package: 1

My thoughts on serving size: You can easily only eat half a bag. The portion size is generous.

Visual appeal: The are about 3/4in round balls that are milk chocolate coated with a flatter base where the chocolate accumulated during the drying

Texture: Super crunchy inside with creamyness of the chocolate coating

My taste review: I was afraid the chocolate might not be very flavorful but that was not confirmed. It is great creamy rich milk chocolate. The puffy interior doesn’t taste like much but adds a great crunch.

Further notes:

  • No eggs, peanuts or tree nuts

Overall: Have you had maltesers before? I used to love them and these remind me of those. Delicous. Fantastic crunch and flavor. These would be great to take to the movies or serve friends and family as a treat after a meal or at a sports game.

Other products available: Shrewdfoods also has savory protein puffs that I reviewed in the crunchy snack post! And these dippers in dark chocolate.

Where to buy: Online through their website www.shrewdfood.com or on Amazon.

Price: 16 packs for $39.99 on both their website and on Amazon

Review of Sukrin - Milk Chocolate Coconut

About the company: “Sukrin USA is the exclusive importer to the USA of the brand Sukrin, founded in 2007 by the Norwegian company Funksjonell Mat AS. Since the introduction, Sukrin brand has grown to become the dominant health brand within its category in all of Scandinavia and large parts of Europe and numerous awards and honors have been bestowed upon the Sukrin range of products.

Sukrin USA carry a range of all-natural, zero-calorie and low-carb sugar alternatives, naturally gluten-free and fat-reduced flours, low-carb, sugar and gluten-free bake mixes and delectable, sugar-free chocolates.”

Sweetener used: Erythritol, steviol glycosides

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: The inulin might make you feel bloated. Otherwise all fine.

Serving Size: 1 bar / 40gr

Calories per serving: 176 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 4gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 13gr (Total Carbs) - 8gr (Fiber) - 1gr (Erythritol - assumption, the label does not show that) = 4gr net carbs - I checked their website too and there the label looks different and shows 21g (Total Carbs) - 8gr (Fiber) - 10gr (Sugar Alcohols) = 3g net carbs

Servings per package: 1

My thoughts on serving size: Great. Half the bar would do too.

Visual appeal: Nice milk chocolate color. Mine was slightly melted and resolidified so I can’t speak to the full visual appearance.

Texture: Very creamy and smooth - with tiny bits of coconut

My taste review: It’s delicious. Great chocolate flavors and the bits of coconut complement it really well.

Overall: While it is delicious I don’t trust the label. Between mine that shows 13g Total carbs which I believe is actually 13g net carbs because of the European way of labeling and the online nutrition facts showing 20g total carbs. I’d rather pass than risk overeating on carbs.

Other products available: Syrups, chocolates, sweeteners and more

Where to buy: Online through their website www.sukrinusa.com or on Amazon.

Price: $2.99 for one bar on their website. $57.50 for 20 bars on Amazon. This makes it $2.88 per bar.

Review of The Good Chocolate - 65% Dark - Salted Almonds and Milk

Image of the Variety Keto friendly Chocolate Square pack by the Good Chocolate

Image of the Keto friendly Dark Milk Chocolate nutrition facts by the Good Chocolate

About the company: Founded by “Ben & Miki, two life long friends and partners in a branding and design agency. In 2014” they “started experimenting with eliminating sugar from” their “diet.” After successfully loosing weight in the following months and feeling better and more energized they decided to take it a step further and explore making a treat we could all feel good about eating. The Good Chocolate was born and after months of testing they “came up with a sweet-blend of organic sweeteners all found in fruits & plants. The result was an exquisite, 100% organic bean-to-bar chocolate that’s as delicious as it is healthy.”

Sweetener used: Erythritol, Stevia

Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: All clean. All good. And all organic!

Serving Size: 1 square / 11gr / 0.4oz

Calories per serving: 42 kcal

Net Carbs per serving: 1gr net carbs

Carb Calculation: 6gr (Total Carbs) - 2gr (Fiber) - 3gr (Erythritol) = 1gr net carbs

Servings per package: 1

My thoughts on serving size: Very nice as a sweet little treat after a meal

Visual appeal: Very nice. Shiney and appetitzing, The packaging is beautiful too. These would make beautiful gifts.

Texture: Both the Salted Almonds and Milk were creamy and smooth. The Salted Almond has small splinters of Almonds which give it a little crunch.

My taste review: Salted Almond first: It was rich and intense in flavor. In a blind test I think I would have said that is is more than 65% which works for me as I’ve come to love dark chocolate. Not overly salty. Just a hint. The almond pieces could maybe be a bit bigger to allow more almond flavor to develop when eating. Now to Milk which is made with 54% dark chocolate. I think taste testing this right after Salted Almond was a bit misleading as it didn’t live up to the intensity. I kept a smaller piece for later, once my pallate was cleansed a bit. Given that it seems to be a mix of dark and milk chocolate I would have expected a bit more creamyness and also sweetness. The flavor was good but didn’t stand out as much as the Salted Almond. Again, I’m more into dark chocolate these days though which I’m sure is impacting my review.

Further notes:

  • 100% Organic

Overall: I’m looking forward to trying the other flavors. You can definitely tell that this is a high quality chocolate where much consideration is not only given to sustainable sourcing but also top notch ingredients and careful manufacturing. They taste like high end chocolate and I doubt a non-ketoer would think that these aren’t sweetened with sugar but erythritol and stevia instead.

Other products available: Other flavors include Mint, Signature Dark, Ginger and Himalayan Salt,

Where to buy: Online through their website www.thegoodchocolate.com or on Amazon.

Price: Variety pack with 2 of each flavor for a total of 12 single squares is $27. Both on their website and on Amazon.

It was a pleasure to taste test my way through these chocolates and to find so many delicious ones was such a bonus. My favorites haven’t changed but I know now that if I come across others when on the go or when I’m out of mine these other options will have my back.

Now to the side by side comparison. Keto friendly chocolate is not = Keto friendly chocolate when it comes to amount of carbs and calories but they play in a similar field. Luckily most have great ingredients too and price-wise we have the full range from under $1 per ounce to over $5.
