Ready to Meet up?
Starting a new diet can be incredibly intimidating. Keto is no exception!
All the questions
What is allowed on Keto? What isn’t? When to start? and where to start? To share the plans to go Keto or Low Carb with friends and family or not? What will they say?
Followed by all the feelings
One can easily feel a bit alone when embarking on this journey. I know I did. No one in my circle of friends had heard of Keto or Low Carb and when I touched on the subject of wanting to loose 30-40lbs all I got was looks implying that I was silly.
We’re all on our own path. They didn’t know how unhappy I felt deep down and how insecure my body made me feel. Truth: 3 years in and they still don’t know!
You don’t need to stay there
Today we don’t have to stick it out with those feelings though. We don’t have to stay lonely. For Keto and Low Carb - as for other diets like Whole 30, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free - there are many communities at our fingertips.
The power of community
We can embark on our journey surrounded by like minded people - virtually. Drawing inspiration from the progress they might have already made or connecting with fellow newbies. Strangers quickly become friends. All from screen to screen. Like in the community that KETO ANYWHERE brought together.
Ready to take it offline? Meet up!
Then comes that big day. You hear about a local Meet Up. A gathering where you could finally meet these online friends - in person! As well as make new friends. To go? or not to go? Ready to leave the security of your screen behind?
KETO ANYWHERE’s 2nd Chicagoland Meet Up
On February 23, 2020 about 30 daring Keto-ers and Low Carbers came together for the 2nd KETO ANYWHERE Meet Up. All they needed to bring was a store-bought or home-made Keto or Low Carb snacks.
People came in from all over Illinois and the Chicagoland area to connect with virtual friends and make new ones in person. Once again hosted at the vibrant and laid back Arlington Ale House in Arlington Heights IL.
Ice breaker cards were ready, but far from needed.
It’s fascinating how easily you start chatting with people when you have something like a way of eating in common and are surrounded by the food that bounds everyone together.
All the Keto snacks
Thanks to generous partner brands there were lots of samples. From Keto sweet treats from Zenobars, Kawaii Treats and Eats, ChocZero, Ketofit and Ketobars to savory keto snacks like Umlands Crunchy Cheese, Tomer Kosher Beef sticks, Omega Buns and Egglife Egg wraps.
People brought Keto and Low Carb snacks too. They had the chance to try Quest cookies, Highkey Granola and cookies, Goodess mix Brownies, Aldi Cheese crisps and bread. Dada Cauliflower snacks, Keto and Co mix Brownies, Slimfast Fat bombs, Atkins bars. Plus some home-made goodies. Check the pictures below for recipes and impressions.
Come join us!
Based on the feedback received, stepping out of the virtual world to join a meet up is well worth it. Not just for the goodie bags ;)
You deepen those friendships, get more tips, try new foods and feel like you’re part of the tribe. You’re in a group where Keto and Low Carb is normal and encouraged!

Not in the Chicago area?
I’d be happy to meet up on my upcoming trips! In March 2020 I’m headed to Zurich, Switzerland and later to Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima, Japan. May will come with a trip to Minneapolis MN. June, most likely to Austin, TX - Ketocon!, and rough plans are made for Indianapolis IN and Atlanta GA.
Send me a message if you’re in!
