Latest update: February 17, 2021 with the review of the Miss Jones Brownie Mix!
Costco, just as Whole Foods, is becoming more and more Keto & Low Carb friendly.
You might think that with their carefully selected inventory they wouldn’t venture into particular diet friendly foods but for Keto they are really stocking the shelves.
The following shopping list for Costco might not apply throughout the US as Costco does tend to stock different foods in different regions. I shop in the Midwest and will include items that are available in other States and add notes as needed.
How to shop at Costco without a membership
You don’t need to be a member at Costco to shop there! No, really! You can shop at Costco without being a member. A few options:
Have a Costco member buy you Costco gift cards which you can enter the store with, shop and use to pay
Shop through Instacart or other similar grocery shopping services. Only your assigned shopper will need the membership, but not you behind your computer screen!
Shop online at Costco.com -> This usually comes with a 5% surcharge on prices and food is usually not available online
Members can bring up to 2 guests. So how about going shopping with a friend
Also, getting a Costco Membership comes at practically no risk because they have a satisfaction guarantee. You can go back just before your membership expires and say you weren’t happy with it and they’ll refund the membership! Same with the premium membership. If you pay extra for it and don’t make it up in savings, go to customer service and you’ll get a refund.
How to navigate the Costco Keto Shopping list?
Read on to see what especially Keto friendly products I found at my Costco in the suburbs of Chicago along with carb count, varieties available, my thoughts and of course: PRICE!
Same as the blog post on shopping Keto at Walmart, I’m sorting by:
Keto breakfast food
Keto lunch / dinner food
Keto baking products
Sweet Keto snacks
Savory Keto snacks
And noting when products are also vegan and gluten free.
For help on what to eat generally on Keto check out Keto 101 or the Keto COVID-19 / Coronavirus shopping list that I hope to soon be able to convert into a regular Keto Shopping list.
Printable shopping list to follow soon.
Know of more keto friendly products at Costco?
Does your Costco have more Keto friendly products? Please comment and I’ll happily build out the list. If you can, add the general area you live in to help other shoppers.
Don’t have a Costco close-by? I’m including Amazon links to any Keto product available on Amazon so that you can still fill your cart and shop from home. There’s also more in the discounts section if you’re curious about more Keto friendly snacks and products.
Ready to go? Let’s do it!
Keto breakfast foods available at Costco
Cuisine Solutions - Sous-Vide Egg Bites
7gr net carbs per serving of 2 egg bites
Varieties: Three Cheese & Turkey Sausage
Price: $11.99 for a 21oz pack of 5 servings - 10 bites
My thoughts: I have not tried these. They look like they’d be similar to the Starbucks one and if you half the serving size the carbs aren’t bad. The box includes To Go trays
Natural Ovens - Keto friendly bread
0gr net carbs per slice
Price: $7.89
My thoughts: I really like this bread EXCEPT as a grilled cheese. Somehow it developed a vinegar-taste. I would stick to using it for sandwiches or just slightly toasted in the future rather than fried in butter
Artisan Baker - Keto Bread
0gr net carbs per slive
Price: $8.99
My thoughts: I’ve not tried this yet. This was spotted in the San Diego area!
Birch Benders Keto Pancake & Waffle Mix
5gr net carbs per serving of 2 pancakes / waffles
Vegan and gluten free
You only need to add water to the mix
Varieties: Different stores also have chocolate chip as well as cups to make pancakes and Keto cakes
Price: $13.99 for a 30 oz bag <- all prices are based on the location I visited in the suburbs of Chicago and may vary by location
My thoughts: It’s ok. I think there are some great diy recipes out there but this option is very convenient with just needing water
Kirkland - Mixed Nut Butter
4gr net carbs per serving of 2 tbsp
Blend of Almonds, Cashews, Pumpkin Seeds, Chia Seeds. & Flax Seeds
Price: $7.99 for a 27oz container
My thoughts: I have not tried it
Keto lunch & dinner foods available at Costco
Kevin’s Natural Foods - Soup - ONLY AVAILABLE IN CA, Costco LA and Northwest
TBD - I was unable to find the nutrition facts online and have contacted Kevin’s Natural Foods to ask
I’m only aware of the Cauliflower Cheddar soup being available at Costco
Price: $7.99 in California where it was spotted
My thoughts: I haven’t tried this yet but a friend of mine in California has and she loved it
Realgood Foods - Frozen Enchiladas
2gr net carbs per serving
Variety: I only know of them carrying the Chicken Breast Grande Enchiladas with Tomatillo Sauce
Gluten free, grain free
Price: $12.79 for 6
My thoughts: I have not tried this yet. I have tried their cheese and chicken enchilada however and really liked that. If you order online and use code ‘ketoanywhere’ you’ll get an extra 15% off! The code stacks with any other offer they run at the time
Glorious Foodies - Halloumi Cheese Fries - most likely Chicagoland only for now
0 gr net carbs per serving of 1 fry
Gluten free
Price: $15.99 for a 1.65 Pound bag
My thoughts: I’ve been hunting for Halloumi fries here in the US. In the UK they are very common and served in most pubs. I was VERY happy when I heard that Costco carries these. They are a bit salty, but turn out amazing in the air fryer. You can eat them by themselves, dip them in Marinara or anything else really
Folios Cheese Wraps
Regionally available
0-1gr net carb per serving. The front packaging shows 1gr net carb while the nutrition info shows 0gr net carbs :/
Varieties: Generally these come in Cheddar, Jarlsberg and Parmesan. Most stores tend to carry Cheddar though
Price: ~$10 for 10 sheets
My thoughts: I’ve tried these and while I like them I find them pricey. You can achieve the same thing by piling up shredded cheese on parchment paper and baking it until it melts. I prefer lettuce wraps or low carb wraps and adding cheese inside
Crepini - Egg thins
Regionally available - so far not in Chicagoland as far as I know
These are egg-based wraps made with cauliflower
0gr net carbs
Price: $8.99 for a pack of 9.87oz (about 40)
My thoughts: Better value for money than Folios Cheese Wraps. but the Egg thins are smaller than regular tortillas. They’re ok to try and then see if you like them. They also have ‘egg wraps’ that are bigger!
Earthly Choice - Cauliflower Rice
3gr net carb per serving of 1/2 cup - 2 servings per bag
Gluten free
Price: $10.99 for 6x pouches of 8.5 oz each
My thoughts: I have not tried these but I’m intrigued about making cauliflower rice in the microwave. Seems like a great and convenient option
Primal Kitchen - Ketchup
2gr net carbs per serving of 1 Tbsp
Price: $8.99 for the 3 pack
My thoughts: I haven’t tried it yet
Keto baking products available at Costco
Miss Jones Baking Co - Keto & Paleo Fudgy Brownies Baking Mix - for now only available at select Costco’s in Oregon and Washington
2g net carbs
Price: $12.79 for a 3-pouch pack
My thoughts: Don’t walk, run! This mix is amazing! I regret letting my kids and partner (all not Keto) try it because they ate.it.up and I would have rather not have to share it. Follow the baking instructions and it’s perfect. I ate some plain and some I cut up to use in Keto friendly chocolate bombs. I’m excited to try more of the Miss Jones mixes soon.
Kirkland Signature - Almond Flour
2gr net carb per serving of 1/4 cup / 1oz / 28gr
Price: $13.49 for a 3 pound bag. This makes it $4.49 per pound. At Aldi a pound is $6.19
My thoughts: My go to blanched Almond Flour. I always have an open pack in my kitchen and a back up pack in the pantry. I do not keep it in the fridge and have never had issues with it going bad. Even when I didn’t bake or use it for cooking for a while.
Lakanto - Monk Fruit Sweetener
0gr net carbs
Price: $8.99 for a 28.22oz bag
My thoughts: I really like Lakanto products. I’m currently still finishing bags of Swerve and then plan on trying future recipes with Lakanto’s sweetener
Navitas - Cacao Powder
3gr net carbs per serving of 2.5 tbsp (15gr)
Price: $9.79 for a 24oz bag
My thoughts: I have not tried this yet but saw it also at Whole Foods where it is $11.99 for an 8oz bag!
Lakanto - Keto Brownie Mix
3g net carbs
Glute free
Price: $14.89 for a 3-pack
My thoughts: I have not tried this yet
Sweet Keto snacks available at Costco
KETO Pint - Keto Bars Sea Salt Caramel
2 gr net carbs
Gluten free
Varieties: As far as I know Costco only carries the bars. Other stores have pints
Price: $11.99 for a box of 12 - this is a very fair price!
My thoughts: Let them sit on your kitchen counter for 3-4 minutes or eat one after you get through check out at Costco and you might be in ice cream heaven. I really like them. I like that they’re chocolate cover to give a but of a bit and the ice cream is yummy too. Not super flavorful but nice for a bar.
ratio - Crunchy Bar Toasted Almond
2 gr net carbs
Gluten free
Price: $15.97 for a box of 16 bars which is very fair for Keto bars
My thoughts: I have not tried these yet
Bakery Street - Almond Keto Bites
5gr net carbs per serving of 4 bites
Sweetened with Erythritol
Varieties: These also come in cinnamon but I believe so far only Almond has been spotted at Costco
Price: $9.49
My thoughts: These are very almond-y. Like marzipan. They are good but a bit too intense for me.
Lily’s Sweets - Chocolate Chip Cookies NEW
Announced on April 14: Initially only in Costco’s in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia
9gr net carbs for 9 cookies - these are more on the low carb side - don’t be fooled by the <1gr of sugar shown on the front
They have wheat flour making them ‘dirty Keto’ and not gluten free
Price: $xx.xx - unknown as I haven’t spotted these myself
My thoughts: The carb count is too high for me. I hope I get to try 1 at a meet up or so but would most likely not get a bag
Savory Keto Snacks available at Costco
La Terra Fina - Spinach Artichoke Dip
2gr net carb per serving of 2 Tbsp (30gr)
Gluten free
Price: $7.99 for a 31oz container
My thoughts: Great for dipping. Grab some cucumber or cheese crisps and enjoy!
Rhythm - Organic Cauliflower Bites
6gr net carbs per serving of 1.4oz (40gr)
Contains Maltodextrin making it a dirty Keto snack (see Keto 101 for what this means)
Price: $6.49 for a 5.75oz bag
My thoughts: I really liked these. They are crunchy. Have a nice and mild cauliflower as well as sea salt taste. My non-Keto friends unfortunately liked them too which meant I didn’t have much :)
Greenridge Farm - Beef Snack Sticks
0gr net carbs
Price: not sure as I did not spot these myself
My thoughts: I have not tried these yet
Moon Cheese - Cheddar
1gr net carb per serving of 1 oz
Gluten free
Varieties: My Costco only carries Cheddar and it might be in the ‘old’ packaging. Generally they also come in Gouda, Pepperjack, Bacon Cheddar
Price: $8.99 for 10 oz bags
My thoughts: These are great cheese snacks to get some crunch on Keto. To eat out of the bag, as croutons or on soups.
Whisps Cheese Crips - Mix bag Cheddar and Parmesan
1 gr net carb per 2/3 of an oz
Gluten free
Varieties: My Costco had a variety pack with 14 bags of 1oz each
Price: $10.99
My thoughts: I don’t like these as much as Moon Cheese or Umland’s. Whisps are just as crunchy but for me their flavor isn’t as rich and cheesy as the others
Nature’s Garden Keto Snack Mix
2 gr net carb per serving of 1 oz
Price: $13.79 for a 24 oz bag
My thoughts: Not a big fan unfortunately. The macadamia are nice and the almonds and pecans ok. The cheese was pretty bland and there were way too many seeds for my taste
Kirkland Signature - Macadamia Nuts
2gr net carbs per serving of 1/4 cup / 1 oz
Macadamia nuts are a great source of healthy fats and make a really good snack
Price: $19.99 for a 24 oz bag
My thoughts: I have not tried the Kirkland brand yet. I tend to overeat on Macadamia which can be treacherous due to them being high calorie and fat foods
Costco’s specifically Keto-labeled or Keto friendly product list might not be as long as others, but again - depending on region you might find more when shopping than the above.
Overall I definitely think Costco is worth a visit when doing Keto. Especially because you can stock up at good prices on basics like butter, cheese, bacon, cream, meats, almond flour and more.
If you prefer shopping online and with extra discounts make sure to check the discounts page here. Netrition is also fantastic to try new Keto products and buy just for example one bar at a time. Or check out the KETO ANYWHERE Amazon Store with over 300 Keto and Low Carb friendly products.
