How to Shop Keto at Mariano's and Kroger - an easy list for you

Mariano’s is a grocery store chain in the suburbs of Chicago that was bought up by Kroger in 2019. Since this acquisition, Mariano’s has started having more and more ‘Kroger’ products in their inventory, which means that what I find at Mariano’s you can highly likely find at Kroger!

Carbmaster - Protein Smoothies
5-7gr net carbs per bottle of 296ml
Sweetened with Sucralose and contains modified corn starch
Varieties: Strawberry, Mango, Raspberry Cream, Vanilla Cream
Price: $1.29 per bottle
My thoughts: I have not tried these. I feel like with this carb count they are better suited for people eating / drinking Low Carb than Keto. I have tried Carbmaster yogurts in the past though and wasn’t a fan of the aftertaste
Carbmaster - Ultra-Filtered Nonfat Milk
3 gr net carbs per serving of 8 fl oz (240ml)
Varieties: Plain, Vanilla, Chocolate
Price: $4.49
My thoughts: I have not tried it. I usually get unsweetened Almond Milk
Jimmy Dean - Simple Scrambles
3gr net carbs
Varieties: Sausage, Bacon, Meat Lovers
Price: $2.99
My thoughts: I really like these for once in a while. I usually Intermittent Fast, so don’t buy a lot of breakfast foods but I like those for lunch too or as a snack.
Birch Benders Pancake & Waffle Mix
Keto Plain - 5gr net carbs per serving of 2 pancakes / waffles
Vegan and gluten free
You only need to add water to the mix
Price: $6.99 for 10oz bag
My thoughts: It’s ok. I think there are some great diy recipes out there but this option is very convenient with just needing water
Justin’s Classic Almond Butter - in the jar
2gr net carbs per serving of 2 Tbsp - 32gr
Gluten free and vegan
Varieties: They also have peanut butter which is fine on Keto. Their flavored options with vanilla tend to be higher in carbs
Price: $11.99 for a 16oz jar
My thoughts: This is my go to almond butter. I first tried them in the individual portions and it makes a great Keto to go snack. Really filling
Smuckers - Sugar Free Jam
3gr net carbs per serving of 1 tbsp
Vegan
Varieties: Strawberry, Peach, Raspberry Preserve, Concord Grape Jam, Orange Marmelade - may vary by store
Price: $3.29
My thoughts: I’ve tried the Strawberry one in the past and remember liking it. I’ve since moved to making my own ‘jam’ my mashing strawberries and spreading them on Keto bread

G Hughes Sugar Free Sauces
~2gr net carbs per serving of 2 Tbsp (30gr)
Varieties: BBQ Sauce line with Hickory, Maple Brown, Honey and more. They also have Teriyaki sauces and Salad dressings

Price: $3.99
My thoughts: BBQ Honey was not my thing. I loved Teriyaki though.
Quest nutrition - Pizza
6gr net carbs per serving of half a pizza
Varieties: Thin crust pizza 4-cheese
Price: $8.49
My thoughts: I have not tried it yet but I have heard really good things about it
Realgood Foods - Pizza
4gr net carbs per serving
Varieties: my store only had uncured Pepperoni
Gluten free, grain free
Price: $6.99
My thoughts: I have not tried this yet. I have tried their cheese and chicken enchilada however and really liked that. If you order online and use code ‘ketoanywhere’ you’ll get an extra 15% off!
Cali’flour Foods - Pizza Crust
4gr net carbs per serving - 1/3 of the crust
2 crusts per box
Varieties: Italian and Sweet Red pepper were available at my store. They also have Plain, Spicy Jalapeño, Classic Cheese, Supreme Veggie, Chicken Pepperoni and Artisan Margherita. Find them all here on Amazon too
Gluten free, grain free, nut free, egg free and dairy free
Price: $12.39
My thoughts: I had these back when I started Keto. They were ok. They have changed the recipe since though and have added flavors so I would try them again
Egglife - Egg wraps
0-1gr net carb
Varieties: Plain, Southwest, Rye and Italian Style
Grain free, dairy free
Price: $4.99
My thoughts: Great very low carb wrap option. I’ve used them as wrap. Cut them up and stir fried them as Pasta. Used them for Pizza. These are currently only available in the Chicagoland area.
La Banderita - Carb Counter Wraps
5gr net carbs per serving of 1 tortilla - these are also more on the Low Carb side of things
These are also considered ‘dirty keto and they use whole wheat
Vegan
Price: $3.12 for a pack of 8
My thoughts: Similar as with the Mission wraps above: Once in a while these are good but nowadays I look for lower carbs when using wraps
Mission - Carb Balance Flour Tortillas
4 gr net carbs per serving of 1 tortilla - these are more on the Low Carb side of things
These are considered ‘dirty’ Keto as they use wheat flour
As an alternative to these you could also get lettuce for lettuce wraps or egg based wraps that tend to have 0 net carbs
Vegan
Price: $4.79
My thoughts: When I started Keto these or similar ones from other brands were my go to. I do not taste a difference to ‘regular’ / carb heavy ones

Duncan Hines - Keto friendly Cakes in a Cup
5gr net carbs per cup
These are sweetened with Allulose. A sweetener that can not yet be listed in nutrition info but that has no impact on blood sugar and leaves no aftertaste
Varieties: Double Chocolate Cake, Birthday Cake, Walnut Fudge Brownie
Price: $2.29 each
My thoughts: So far I’ve only tried the Walnut Fudge Brownie and I was SO positively surprised. You add water to the cup and a tbsp of melted butter. Stir. Place it in the microwave for a little over a minute. Let it sit for 2 minutes and you’re ready to dig in. Visually it is not very appealing but the taste is on point. Not too sweet. The Walnut bits give it some bite and overall I felt like this was really nice as a rare treat.
Lily’s Sweet Baking Chips
~ 2 gr net carbs for a serving of 26 chips (14gr / 0.5 oz)
Sweetener used is erythritol and it’s sweetened with stevia
Certified gluten free
Price: $6.99 for the 9oz bag
My thoughts: I have not tried these yet but am generally a big fan of Lily’s Sweets products.
Swerve Sweetener
4gr net carbs
Gluten free and vegan
Erythritol
Varieties: Granular, Confectioners, Brown ‘sugar’
Price: $7.99 for a 12oz bag
My thoughts: I really like Swerve. As I have gotten used to eating less sweet I usually half the amount of sweetener I use for recipes. I use the confectioners more often and the brown one has been nice for cocktails.

Two Good - Yogurt
~3gr net carb per yogurt
Varieties: Different stores have different flavors. Two Good comes in Plain, Vanilla, Strawberry, Raspberry, Coconut, Blueberry, Mixed Berries, Peach
Price: $1.49 - they also come in larger tubs now for $6.99
My thoughts: I love Two Good for flavored yogurts. I always have some in my fridge and my favorites are Vanilla and Blueberry. I especially love eating them with Sola granola .
Quest Nutrition - Keto Protein Cookies
4-5gr net carbs per cookie
Varieties: Double Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter & Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip
Price: $1.99 per cookie
My thoughts: These weren’t for me. Some people recommend microwaving or toasting them before eating

Varieties: Dependent on store. Mine had Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Brownie, White Chocolate Raspberry, Birthday Cake, Cookies and Cream

My thoughts: I’ve tried a few different Quest Nutrition bars and so far have not found one I like

Lily’s Sweets Chocolate Bars
~4gr net carbs for half a bar - I usually eat only a few squares though. Some flavors are higher in carbs so make sure to check the label

Varieties: Varies by store! Mine had Sea Salt and Almond Dark Chocolate
Price: $4.69 (these are occasionally on sale 2 for $7)
My thoughts. The first Keto friendly chocolate I fell in love with. Almond Dark Chocolate was my favorite for a long time until they released Hazelnut. I can only find Hazelnut at Whole Foods so far though

Joyfull Bakery - Crisps
1gr net carb for the Original
Varieties: Original, Everything
Price: $7.99
My thoughts: I really like these. They were the first cheese crisps I tried. I like putting ham on top and eating it like a sandwich. As many cheese crisps, these are fairly pricey though
Whisps Cheese Crips
1 gr net carb per 2/3 of an oz
Gluten free
Varieties: Parmesan, Cheddar, Asiago & Pepper Jack
Price: $4.99
My thoughts: I don’t like these as much as Moon Cheese or Umland’s. Whisps are just as crunchy but for me their flavor isn’t as rich and cheesy as the others
Kroger Chicharrone’s / Pork Rinds
~1gr net carbs
Varieties: Hot N’ Spicy, Original, Barbecue
Price: $1.99 per bag
My thoughts: I have not tried these yet
Jerky’s from various brands like Jack Links, Kroger, Duke’s
0 - 1 gr net carbs usually - careful with ones that have sweeter flavors due to being honey infused or so
Price: $2.49 - $5.99
My thoughts: Try your way through a few until you find the one you like best. These are great for on the go and as keto trave snacks
Annie Chun’s Seaweed Snacks
0gr net carbs
Varieties: Roasted Seaweed Snack Wasabi, Sea Salt, Sesame
Price: $1.79
My thoughts: I have not tried these yet
