Keto friendly Meat Snacks - which one is the best for you?
Disclaimer: This posts contains affiliate links and codes. This means Keto Anywhere receives a commission if you decide to make a purchase using these which comes at no cost to you. Keto Anywhere is indepently owned and the opinions expressed are its own.
After reviewing and comparing many sweet Keto products like Drinks, Pancake & Waffle Mixes, Muffins as well as savory low carb crunchy snacks it is time to move on to the meaty side of Keto.
This comparison is all about meat! Jerky, Sticks, Chips - you name it, Keto Anywhere will compare it!
Meat snacks are a great option because they tend to be very low in carbs and great in protein and fats. Not all are suited for all styles of Keto though.
If you’re eating dirty / relaxed Keto (not watching ingredients, just net carbs - more on that under Keto 101) you’ll be fine with all. If you like to follow a cleaner / strict Keto way of eating however, beware of sugars and other sweeteners which will be flagged below.
The following comparison - as all other Keto Anywhere Blog Post comparisons - is not only laid out to compare net carbs, ease of preparing, taste and texture but also to share whether everything that says ‘Keto’ truly is ‘Keto’.
‘Keto’ can be an easy way to label something and sell it at a higher price. Let me note too though that truly Keto products, especially when coming from smaller companies, need to be priced higher as the ingredients used are sourced in smaller quantities which means higher prices.

My thoughts on serving size: Seems pretty standard
Visual appeal: Nice dark red color with a bit of shine
Smell: Meaty as expected
My texture review: Bit of a knack when biting it. Overall on the softer size.
My taste review: Meat flavor was not very intense. I noticed more the sweeteness of the stick. The ingredients list spices that I did not taste.
Other notes: Gluten free
Overall: It is not the most memorable meat stick but if you don’t mind the cane sugar and like a bit of sweetness it might hit the spot for you.
Other products available: They also have sauce, jerky, meal kits, encased meat.
Where to buy: On their website and on Amazon
Price: $7.99 on their website for their sampler pack with 3 sticks. $9.99 on Amazon. On sale at time of writing this - $39.99 for a case of 20 sticks on their website and $43.99 on Amazon. I got these through the KetoKrate. (Shop with a discount through this link)

Serving Size: 28gr - 1oz
Calories per serving: 45 kcal
Net Carbs per serving: 1gr
Net Carbs per ounce: 1gr
Carb calculation: 1gr (Total Carbs) = 1gr (Net Carbs)
Serving per bag: It says 2 but it also shows 1.75oz per bag and with a serving size of 1oz, that’s not 2 servings
My thoughts on serving size: Fine as a snack
Visual appeal: It’s very dark brown reddish and you can see the grain of the meat. Pieces have different sizes in terms of width, length and thickness
Smell: Great meaty smell as you open it.
My texture review: On the dryer side with a good bite and chewiness.
My taste review: Ingredient list shows Lemon Pepper which didn’t come through much. It tasted like a standard jerky.
Other notes: Wish it was a ziplock bag as it contains multiple servings
Overall: Not very memorable and with the sugar I’d rather pass and eat meat snacks that are cleaner for my diet.
Other products available: They are all about Jerky - some with more and less carbs
Where to buy: On their website.
Price: The 1.75oz bag I got through the KetoKrate. (Shop with a discount through this link) is $4.99 on their website
Carnivore Crisps - Ribeye, Top Sirloin & Heart
About the company: Carnivore Crisps is Hans Hippert Passion Project. The idea for these crisps came to him while having dinner with Brazilian friends who were hard working, fit and passionate about food. Inspired by the Brazilian way of preparing meat that utilizes rock salt he partnered with Redmond Real Salt and started a jerky company and butcher shop.
Sweetener used: None
Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: These crisps are amazing. The only ingredients are the meat, water and salt. Doesn’t get cleaner than that.
Serving Size: 21gr - 0.75oz
Calories per serving: 70-90 kcal depending on cut
Net Carbs per serving: 0gr
Net Carbs per ounce: 0gr
Carb calculation: 0gr (Total Carbs) = 0gr (Net Carbs)
Serving per bag: 2
My thoughts on serving size: Great!
Visual appeal: This is where you instantly realize that this not just like mainstream Jerky or Beef sticks. For the Ribeye, the Crisp is actually a thin slice of a Ribeye steak. It’s so impressive that I’ve been hesitating to eat it and have stuck to the smaller bits for now. Same with the Heart and Top Sirloin. You get a thin slice of it. Really cool! Check out the video review here.
Smell: Earthy and meaty
My texture review: Again, fascinating. The fattier pieces are softer and for the Top Sirloin - I kid you not - it was JUICY!! while the leaner pieces have crunch. Don’t ask me which I prefer. I usually amm all about the fat but here I’m torn.
My taste review: Love love love love love Ribeye and Top Sirloin. Heart…I hesitated at the idea of it and I think my mental barrier got in the way or it’s an acquired taste that I do not have.
Other notes: The packaging elaborates that besides these crisps, the manufacturer also is “conscious of clean living and sustainability. From the drying meat trims into dog treats, to rendering healing tallow from beef fat and to repurpose of every stage of the potential waste that would come form a USDA plant” I love it!
Overall: This is the deluxe version of Meat snacks. Absolutely amazing. If you know a meat lover this would make an amazing gift too!
Other products available: Crisps from Chicken to Elk and Liver
Where to buy: On their website.
Price: It depends on the cut and animal and ranges from $5.99 for Chicken, $6.99 for Top Sirloin to $10.99 for Ribeye. Save 10% with code KETOANYWHERE at checkout.
Creminelli - Salami Minis - Black Pepper
About the company: “For centuries the Creminelli family has passed down the tradition of crafting artisan salami in and around Biella, Italy. By age 25 Cristiano took over salami production in his father’s Salumifico, and under his watch the Creminelli family was officially recognized by Italy’s cultural ministry as Artisans of Excellence. In 2006 Cristiano partnered with Chris and Jared to start Creminelli Fine Meats. He moved to Utah and immediately embraced the freedom this new world offered him. Combining traditional techniques with a modern aesthetic, they introduced American fans to new flavors and products.”
Sweetener used: “Sugars (no dietarily significant sugar remaining in product” - that’s what the packaging says
Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: Meh. I’d say proceed with caution if you’re doing Keto for medical reasons or prefer to avoid sugars.
Serving Size: 1.1oz / 31g
Calories per serving: 80 kcal
Net Carbs per serving: 1gr
Net Carbs per ounce: 1gr
Carb calculation: 1gr (Total Carbs) = 1gr (Net Carbs)
Serving per bag: 2
My thoughts on serving size: Great!
Visual appeal: Just what you’d expect from Mini Salamis. I’d say about 6in long and 1cm wide. Nice reddish color with that whitish outer layer
Smell: Spot on for Salami
My texture review: Big fan. I like the firmness of salami and this stayed with the minis. Really gives you something to chew and bit on and enjoy how the flavor develops.
My taste review: The first few chews were just like regular salami and then the Black Pepper started developing and wow. So good. Not too salty. Really satisfying taste.
Other notes: Gluten free
Overall: These are a win and in my top 3 of the comparison. I’m looking forward to trying more flavors.
Other products available: Crisps from Chicken to Elk and Liver
Where to buy: On amazon.
Price: $35.99 for a pack of 6
EPIC - Jalapeño Beef Bar
About the company: “Oddly enough, the roots of EPIC were planted shortly after” EPICs founders Katie and Taylor “became vegetarians.”
As they write on EPIC’s website (abbreviated): “We wrongly believed that a “clean diet” was plant based. To compound the stress we were putting on our systems, we followed the advice of sports nutrition “experts” and prescribed to a diet that was high in carbohydrates and low in fat. As a result, we were making ourselves unintentionally sick with gastrointestinal distress and a myriad of inflammatory ailments. Not knowing what to do, we decided to go vegan and when things got worse, we decided to follow a raw food diet.”
They embraced the Paleo diet and finally found a way of eating that energized them and made them “stronger, faster, and leaner than they had ever been”.
Feeling that there was a lack of available snack options they “set out to create the world’s first 100% grass fed meat, fruit, and nut bar.” They called it EPIC “because it improves the lives of animals, regenerates our bodies, and helps heal the land”.
Sweetener used: None
Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: Very clean. Check this out: Beef, Jalapeno Pepper, Encapsulated Lactic Acid*, Sea Salt, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Cultured Celery Powder, Cilantro.
Serving Size: 1 bar / 37gr

Net Carbs per serving: 1gr
Net carbs per ounce: 1gr
Carb calculation: 3gr (Total Carbs) - 2gr (Fiber) = 1gr net carbs
Servings per package: 1
My thoughts on serving size: It is fairly filling. When I tried it I ate only half a bar.
Visual appeal: Well. It’s a meat stick. How pretty can they be ;) I do like that the packaging is transparent in the back so that you can see what it looks like. The color was ok. A bit of the muted side. It’s compressed meat but you can see texture as you bite in.
Smell: Not intense or memorable. Just meaty.
Texture: Like other meat sticks / bars this is compressed meat. It is chewy. Has a certain dryness in its texture.
My taste review - Plain, by itself: Before I share my thoughts on meat sticks in general let me say: I LOVE that these are actually spicy! I feel like lately products mention ‘Jalapeño’ which for me implies spicy (which I love) but when I go to try them they are bland. NOT THESE. They say Jalapeño and you can taste it. Too spicy for the kids which means no need to share. WIN!
The meat taste in these did not work for me though. Yes. I love the spicyness but the taste overall didn’t appeal to me.
Further notes:
EPIC prides itself on making sticks out of 100% grass-fed beef
Gluten free and paleo friendly
Overall: I think these are a great Keto friendly options for meat stick / bar lovers! No sweetener or sugar. Easy to take on the go. Founders with a great mission and vision.
Also, I checked their webpage and in the reviews someone mentioned cutting the bar up to eat with scrambled eggs. Now that seems like something I’d love!

Smell: Amazing. From the moment you open the package to when you start eating.
Texture: Chewy and almost juice. Really satisfying bite.
My taste review: Super flavorful. Great level of salt. The Original one has a little kick which I love. Nothing too spicy at all but if you want no kick, opt for the ‘mild’ one.

Visual appeal: Reddish dark and appealing color with some shine. Not too oily.
Smell: Meaty and rich.
Texture: On the softer side with a good chew factor.
My taste review: I don’t think I’ve had alligator before so I’m not sure how much they ‘hit’ that taste. For me the taste was similar to other beef or pork meat sticks. I enjoyed it.
Overall: Very unusual with all the flavors Mythical Meats offers. The taste and texture worked for me and I’m looking forward to eating the others.
Other products available: Their sticks come with Antelope, Ostrich, Pheasant, Venison and more and fun names like Unicorn or Griffin or Loch Ness Monster.

Net Carbs per serving: 0gr
Net carbs per ounce: 0gr
Carb calculation: 0gr (Total Carbs) = 0gr net carbs

My thoughts on serving size: Fine. Great portion size for a snack. To make loaded jerky you might need to go for the whole bag.
Visual appeal: Darker reddish brown color. You can see the texture of the meat and the pieces have different sizes which align with the hand-made aspect of this jerky.
Smell: Nice and rich meaty smell with a hint of lemon. Very faint.
Texture: This is a dryer jerky that gives you lots to chew on.
My taste review: The flavor develops as you chew so give it some time. It has a bit of spice and lemon but I feel like the lemon could be ramped up to stand out more. The meat itself seems high quality.
Overall: It feels like a high-end jerky and I feel like they could be bolder with the flavors to live up to the ‘Limon con Chile’ more. When buying a product with that labeling I’d expect a but more kick or of those flavors.

My thoughts on serving size: Great. As a snack you might be happy with less too.
Visual appeal: Dark brown color. These are very thinly cut and flat piece of meat. Different sizes and shapes.
Smell: Very meaty which you smell right when you open the bag.
Texture: Due to the thin cut slices if you want more to chew on I recommend eating multiple pieces at once. It will also give you more flavor. Overall it is on the dryer side.
My taste review: Smoked didn’t appeal as much to me as Original. Good flavor and easy to eat as a snack.
Overall: First, I was pleasently surprised to find a non-sugar-containing jerky at Aldi. I didn’t have high expectations for it blowing my mind and to be honest even expected not to like it but I ended up being positively surprised and I’m on my second bag of the original already. Smell: Nice and meaty.
Texture: Good bite. Just in between soft and firm.
My taste review: Solid! No too salty. Nice and meaty. I wouldn’t say it’s super memorable but it is what you’d expect from a meat stick.

Tillamook Country Smoker - Zero Sugar - Beef and Pork Stick
About the company: “Years before Tillamook Country Smoker, our beef jerky was born in the Crossley backyard. Art and his son Dick created something not so different from the beef jerky we serve on the shelves today with nothing but good quality cuts, a makeshift smokehouse, and the desire to create something delicious. Two local farming families, the Smiths and Giengers, joined the Crossleys to take Tillamook Country Smoker from backyard to business. Our factory opened its doors in 1975. From there, we took it one handshake, one store, and one state at a time to slowly but surely put our beef jerky and meat sticks on shelves and counters across America.”
Sweetener used: None
Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: All good.
Serving Size: 1 stick / 1.25oz / 35gr
Calories per serving: 160 kcal
Net Carbs per serving: 0gr
Net carbs per ounce: 0gr
Carb calculation: 0gr (Total Carbs) = 0gr net carbs
Servings per package: 1
My thoughts on serving size: This is on the larger size for a meat stick. I think you could easily split it in two, share with friends or family or make it a larger snack
Visual appeal: The stick is very red and oily. The length is impressive and although it is compressed you can still see some texture.
Smell: Nice and meaty.
Texture: I between soft and hard with a good chewyness.
My taste review: It was milder than I expected. I’ve had more meat-flavor from other sticks and it seems low in salt which can be good.
Overall: This is an ‘ok’ stick. I’d buy it in a pinch but otherwise I would stick to sticks with more flavor.
Other products available: In their ‘Zero Sugar’ range they have jerkies, sausages, sticks ranging from Original to Jalapeño and Teriyaki.
Where to buy: On the Tillamook Country Smoker Website (although this particular stick is currently sold out) as well as on Amazon.

Tomer Kosher - Original
About the company: Based in Skokie IL, a suburb of Chicago and founded in 1977. I was not able to find more information but will update if I come across something.
Sweetener used: In the Seasoning there is Corn Syrup Solids which I’m going to count as a sweetener
Cleanliness of ingredients for strict Keto: See above. This might not be enough to raise blood sugar levels but still to be aware of if you’re pursuing Keto for medical reasons. Find out more about ingredients on Keto in the Ingredients Blog Post.
Serving Size: 1 stick / 0.9oz / 25gr
Calories per serving: 90 kcal
Net Carbs per serving: 1gr
Net carbs per ounce: 1gr
Carb calculation: 1gr (Total Carbs) = 1gr net carbs
Servings per package: 1
My thoughts on serving size: This is the average serving size. Maybe slightly under given that it is 0.9oz. Fine as a snack. Not something that will fill you up.
Visual appeal: Darker brown-reddish color. Compressed with some meat texture still visible.
Smell: As expected. Meaty :)
Texture: These are on the harder side giving you more to chew on. Dryer too.
My taste review: Not too salty and not very intense in meat flavor.
Overall: It’s fine. Not sure I’d be drawn back to the original or the Teriyaki which I tried a while back but I am curious about Jalapeño, Cajon and Hot. I do want to mention that the reason these are called “Kosher” are that they follow those standards in production. Beef only and only meat from the front part of the animal. No dairy or pork being used and extra cleaning standards to comply with USDA requirements.
Other products available: It’s all about the sticks with Tomer Kosher. Flavors listed above.
Where to buy: On the Tillamook Country Smoker Website as well as on Amazon.
Price: On the website most products are sold out at time of writing this. The sample box of 24 sticks is advertised at $24.99. The same box is sold out on Amazon as well. Through a reseller you can get 10 sticks for $48.00. The blog also hasn’t been updated in a while. Same for their Instagram. They might no longer be in business :/
My personal top 3 in Meat Snacks
After all these meat snacks, when it comes down to it, which are my favorite? Again, meat snacks did not use to be my go to snacks, but they will be now.
My personal favorites are:
Carnivore Crisps - unbelievable how you get a cut of steak and the flavor and texture is amazing!
Nick’s Stick - So much bang for the carbs and calories. As a more mainstream snack, this will be my go to!
Creminelli - Although they didn’t win ‘score’ wise - see spreadsheet below - I’m in LOVE with the texture. I wish they didn’t have sugar because then they’d get an A from me!
Here’s the side by side:
